” Working with Fern is a delight. She is thoughtful, respectful, and enthusiastic. What most impresses me is her deep commitment to genuine community building that stems from a lifetime of being actively engaged in exactly that task, wherever she is.”

Abra Brynne, Program Manager – Food Secure Canada

“I have known Fern since 2010. In addition to having her as one of my Graphic Facilitation students, and participating in a well-executed conference she put on for the Association of Kootenay Boundary Local Governments, we have also worked side by side on projects including the Columbia Basin Trust 2010 Symposium. Fern is a skilled communicator, an excellent listener, a great team player as well as a passionate leader and delightful person to work with. I highly recommend Fern as a great asset to any organization or project.”

Michelle Laurie, Knowledge Management Consultant – Asian Development Bank

I worked with Fern in Spring 2014 as we were weaving together threads for a keynote and one-day workshop for the Tamarack Institute. Fern was a pleasure to work with from the get-go and her warmth and efficiency came through even in email.  At one point, some panic set in as some items that had been shipped well in advance went ‘missing’ but Fern remained level-calm and everything worked out in the end.  The best part of working with Fern were all the little details she took care of behind the scenes. The pieces that go unseen, but make everything smooth in the end.

Caroline Mills, Manager of Operations – Tamarack Institute for Community Engagement

Fern was employed as a contractor at Kootenay Boundary Community Services Co-op when I joined the team there in May of 2014. In addition to being responsible for the successful delivery of a full day workshop in Nelson with more than 100 people attending, Fern was also responsible for training me in my new program position and supporting the transition of relationships and knowledge for program activities that were operating throughout the Basin. Fern managed all of these tasks with professionalism, patience, and insight. The event she was overseeing went off without a hitch and she ensured I was armed and prepared with everything I needed when her contract wrapped up. Fern displayed admirable event planning expertise, significant knowledge of Basin-wide community building initiatives and the non-profit sector and was friendly, reliable and more than competent in all aspects of her work. I would not hesitate to collaborate with her again in the future.

“The times of great change and remarkable opportunity are upon us. To succeed we can no longer go it alone, but must partner with one another to share innovative and creative ways in which to rethink and restructure our individual existence within the context of our expanding global communities. To do this requires a heightened awareness, an awakened sense of purpose, and a dedicated commitment to actively seek out the possible.”~ Jean Huston
